Müller Imre a híres „Regnum Marianum”-ban került közel a természethez. Alig 17 évesen, 1954-ben már gombászként új alfajt fedezett fel (Geastrum coronatum, varietas mülleri). 1956-ban Párizsban profi fényképésszé képezte magát.
